Marriage Proposal....with a "YES!"

I told you there was going to be some change!

Today I proposed to a very special person that I love dearly; Sherry Lee. It was a special day with lovely summer weather (which isn't very often in San Francisco). In fact, the weather was very HOT, but it did not spoil for what I had planned for the day.

Here's a little history. On May 15, 2004, Sherry and I went on our first date. Back then, I wanted to impress her by having a nice little picnic at the Palace of Fine Arts. This is a beautiful area that is common place for taking wedding photos, with ponds, swans, ducks, and not to mention the famous "dome" structure that was made for the World's Faire in the 1920's. It's a really nice place.

For our first date picnic, I made a box lunch. It included a nice croissant sandwich, a fruit salad, and some chips. It really impressed Sherry because it was nicely packaged, with decorative paper napkins, lime green colored plastic utensils, and with a lovely flower arrangement.

So in preparation for todays surprise proposal, I thought it was be appropriate to have another picnic at the same location where we had our first date. This time making it even more impressive! I decided to make the same croissant sandwich, fruit salad, and chips. Then I added an Italian Chicken Salad, an organic fruit salad, and an Acme Bread Company's Rustic Baguette with an artichoke dip. The food, (aside from the bread) was all purchased from Whole Food Markets.

To make things even more impressive, I plated the food on nice porcelain dishes from Crate and Barrel. It was also accompanied by silverware (instead of plastic utensils) and I even had linen napkins!

Sherry was really impressed again! She just figured this was just a nice ordinary picnic on a lovely day in San Francisco.

We reflected on the last time we had picnic at the same location. I told her that I had another surprise for her. I pulled out a poem that I wrote the day before. It took my only five minutes to write (I have an amazing talent for rhyming sentences), and I pre-rehearsed it to assure that I would not get nervous reading it. As I recited the poem to Sherry, she started tearing. As I was on one knee, I asked her the "FOUR WORD" question. I too, even got choked up at the end!

In classic Sherry Lee fashion, she quietly said, "Yes."

As she said yes, I pulled out the engagement ring that had for her and placed on her left ring finger.

That was Sherry's surprise for the day. The both of us are happy and excited. Now we have to start planning! A wedding won't be this year, but definitely in 2010.

Overall, I am very excited and impressed with the ring that I purchased from a jeweler that my aunt highly recommended.

I'll also have some surprise news for my parents whom are traveling at the moment. The didn't know I was planning on proposing this soon. More to come....
