Avoid the crowds....SHOP ONLINE!!!

I can't believe that people still camp outside in the wee hours of the morning for all the deals offered on Black Friday. Yes, there are good deals, but is it worth the headache? You basically have to camp out in the cold, sometimes rain, fight with other consumers, whord as many items, and then stand in line for hours to pay for the money saving deals. Again I ask....is it worth it? I honestly think black Friday is just the retailer's form of creating chaos to get the consumers in the spirit of spending money. What spirit does this create when you basically view the store as a battleground!

Have you ever thought of this from another perspective? All the savings you are gaining actually turns into wasted money later? Getting a great deal is just a state of mind. A good deal from someone's perspective can honestly be different from another person's perspective. Saavy buyers know a good deal when they see one, but in reality they end up buying some useless object for the personal gratification that they got a good deal on it. Is that a way to spend your hard earned money? That's when you fall into the retail trap. The retailer suckered you to buy the item...based on a great deal....when it's usually an item that is not a needed. The whole concept is to get the buyer to buy on impluse because they think they are mentally getting a great deal! Why fall into this trap!

Some of these deals are outrageous! I see laptops selling for under $300 after rebate, 42" LCD flatpanel TV selling for $800; the list goes on and on. Sure from the retail aspect, you're clearing out old inventory, but look at what you have to deal with. Black Friday brings out all the mooches in the world looking for a good deal. Good deals come and go, but I think tradition makes the bargains start before the Christmas season. Hence BLACK FRIDAY.

Good deals happen year round. Take the time to study your purchase. Read about the options. Use various internet deal searches. Make informative decisions before you buy, read other people's opinions on the product, and above all...shop around. I use a few of these sites to make my purchase decisions:

Spoofee - Coupons, online deals
http://www.spoofee.com

Got Apex - For computer deals, electronics, etc
http://www.gotapex.com

Price Scan
http://www.pricescan.com

Price Grabber
http://www.pricegrabber.com

Bottom line....do your HOMEWORK. Never buy on impluse! You end up spending more and the savings ends up being used for you to spend more on useless things you DON'T need.

I personally find greater deals online. If I do go to a store, I'm not afraid to ask for a discount. You'd be surprised on what you can get for asking a simple polite question. Some retailers are willing to wheel and deal. Above all, be fair. Don't lowball. It makes you look like an ass.

To sum everthing up. Time is money. If you measured what your time is worth versus the savings you're getting from standing hours in line. Who knows? I think my time is worth more. It's all a "WASH" in my mind (it comes out equal).

Happy Shopping!
