New Year with a New Dell PC

I told you that 2009 is going to be "sunshine!"

I'm really excited at what FedEx delivered this morning! FedEx was nice enough to call me early this morning just to make sure that I was available fo
r them to deliver my new Dell computer. There was a little mishap that left me puzzled because the monitor showed up before the CPU box. Common sense would make one think that both boxes come together in one delivery. Turns out the CPU box arrives 15 minutes later from another delivery person.

I was in need of a new computer. My previous Dell Dimension 8200 Pentium 4 was purchased back in 2001. It's outdated, slow, and I'm surprised it lasted me this long without any problems. I know that many people have complained about problems with Dell computers, but I have to honestly say that I had eight years of "trouble-free" usage. Definitely got my money's worth and more (since it still works fine). This computer is not going into retirement just yet. I'm planning on turning it into a network drive/printer server. Maybe perhaps a media center computer if it can handle it. Enough with the old computer!

New computer has the following:
Intel Core2 processor Q9400(2.66Ghz, 1333FSB) w/QuadCore Tech and 6MB cache 375W Power Supply
4GB DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz
Dell USB Keyboard
Dell S2409W 24 inch WidescreenFlat Panel Monitor
AMD Radeon HD3450 256MB PCI-Express x16 RV620
500GB NCQ Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM) w/ 16MB DataBurst Cache
6X Blu-ray and 16X DVD+/-RW
Power DVD 8.0, Blue-Ray Disk Playback
8 Channel,Dolby,PDVD,7.0,Blue Ray Disk
McAfee SecurityCenter 15-month
Microsoft Office 2007 Small Business Edition
S and P Drop-in-Box Marcom forDHS Desktops
375 W Power Supply
Windows Vista Premium System

So there you have it! It's not the most "Bad Ass" but good enough for what I plan to use the computer for.

I was so excited about getting this computer out of the box that I just set it up on my desk. Didn't even bother to tuck or clean up any of the cords yet. In fact, until I back everything up from my old computer, this computer will have to sit at it's temporary location. The next project is migrating all my computer files.

Time for some fun! Especially with a Widescreen 24" monitor!
