Losing my mind....

I've been known to have a keen sense of memory. People are always amazed at how well I can remember experiences, names, faces, places, processes, and even smells. Lately, I've been careless with an important item that many people hold onto with extreme care. It's not my house keys. It's not my car keys! It's not my social security number. It's not even money (although close enough)!

I've been careless with my CREDIT CARD! Al thought, not careless with my spending.

Let me explain:
  • I order food from a restaurant.
  • I pay the bill with my credit card.
  • I sign the credit card receipt.
  • Then I somehow forget to put my credit card back into my wallet!!!!

Turns out that I happened to leave my credit card behind at a local restaurant we visit often and they were honest to keep it safe for me. I called them the next day and then had to suffer the embarrassment of walking in with a big stamp on my forehead that says, "DUMMY."

The panic of opening my wallet and noticing that my credit card is not there is what freaks me out the most. I have to go through the process of retracing my steps/tracks to determine where I left my credit card behind. Followed by going online and checking to see if some dishonest person is having a shopping spree with my credit card.

Then just a few days ago, I go to the ATM. Guess what? I leave my ATM card in the machine!! It's a good thing that the ATM machine sucks the card back in. Unfortunately, I didn't notice my ATM card missing until four days later. I go back to my bank and they told me they destroyed the card after 48 hours if it's not claimed. The bank is going to re-issue a new credit card.

So far, (knock on wood) I've been lucky! I really can't understand what would cause me to be so careless. I'm sure it the pure factor of me simply not paying attention. My mind is somewhat preoccupied at times, but it shouldn't be that preoccupied in two occasions of me leaving behind my credit card or ATM card. Shame on me.

Quoting the famous American Express slogan, "Don't leave home without it." They should make a slogan for me, "Don't leave the store without it!"
