Da BOOT and Bigfoot!

My left foot has been giving me some serious problems. For better words, "serious pain!" It's my typical male mentality to just ignore going to the doctor when I have some sort of health issue, but this time the pain was bad enough for me to actually get checked out by a doctor.

Honestly, I don't know how I managed to mess my left foot up. My right foot is fine and dandy. In fact I'm almost embarassed to tell everyone how I developed this pain that causes me to limp around. Ok....I'll tell.

A few Sundays ago, S wanted me go for a nice walk around the neighborhood. As much as I dread walking; wait, I'm just plain lazy! She convinced me to walk down the street to the coffee shop. What was planned out as a 45 minute walk turned into a 15 minute walk because we decided to head back home because of some last minute plans with friends to eat out. So much for exercise when your stomach overruled the walking agenda.

I really didn't notice the pain until a few days later. In the past, I did get a little bit of foot pain in my left foot, but that's from doing long ten mile hike. Plus the last time, the pain was only for a few days, and it then went away. For only 15 minutes of walking, I can't believe I was able to do this much painful damage to my foot. It's rather sad if you ask me. This time; Holy Shit! The pain was so bad that I was ready to walk myself into the ER.

Luckly enough, I was able to see my primary care physician. She noticed that I was flatfooted in my left foot and it was probably the cause of why I have pain at the ball of my foot (the metatarsal area). My foot is swollen red and my second toe (next to big toe) hurts at the joints and even by touch. When I walk, it feels as if I'm walking right on the bone. Trust me, the pain is unbearable to stand on or walk on. So my doctor refers me to a podiatrist.

I finally get an appointment with the foot doctor. They did the whole evaluation, took x-rays, prescribed some pain killers, and sent me off to a orthopedic group to get a boot (see below). It turns out that my toe joints are inflamed and swollen. I have a followup appointment in two weeks to see how the healing process goes.

Thank God for this boot (walking cast). It makes standing and walking so much easier. Less pain as well. Walking barefoot on a hard surface is completly unbearable. This boot is the same boot that people wear when they have broken ankles, broken foot, etc. It's very comfortable and even has a pump in it to inflate areas for cushion and fitting.

Now I just need to have this foot heal so I don't have to wear this monsterous contraption on my foot. Keeping my walking down to a minimum.

BIG FOOT SIGHTING!

Now I too can be cool like Tom Brady....
