Westfield San Francisco Centre
San Francisco, CA
October 3, 2006
The Westfield San Francisco Centre opened it's doors to the public on September 28, 2006. The mall occupies what was formally the original Emporium store. Obviously the new mall received a modern facelift and the architects decided to preserve the original glass dome of the building. This mall hosts various retail stores, Bloomingdales, Century Theatres, and even a grocery store on the basement level. This store has almost everything under one roof! It is the epitome of what we call the "modern shopping mall."
I remember when the mall was the Emporium and during Christmas time they would have a carnival and Santa Claus on the rooftop. They also had shows inside telling the stories of how Christmas is celebrated around the world. Now that the mall is renovated, there are no remains of the original Emporium inside. Only the doors and the glass dome remain the same. Here are some photos taken a few days after the opening of the mall.
